The Aldeberan Project was created to show that there is an alternative to Star Trek and Star Wars. The proliferation of their clones, whether spacecraft, space colonies, alien creatures, etc, indicates to me that there is a tremendous lack of imagination out there. Spacecraft need not be the same old drab white, gray, and black...how boring!

The Dreadnought employs three propulsion systems. A scramjet (supersonic-combustion ramjet) for atmospheric flight. A plasma propulsion drive for exo-atmospheric cruise flight. A nuclear pulse propulsion drive for acceleration to hyper-speed to achieve excape velocity and for exo-atmospheric flight.
The Dreadnought deploys two offensive weapons systems. A forward firing plasma bolt torpedo system for the big knock-out punch. Upper and lower high intensity lasers provide wide angle coverage with precision distruction capability.
The Heavy Lift Vehicle utilizes three rocket propusion systems. Metallic hydrogen chemical rocket engines located in the keel are the main rockets for VTO launch. A nuclear powered thermal rocket in the tail provides vectored thrust to translate from VTO mode to forward motion, used in both atmospheric and exo-atmospheric regimes. Dual aft plasma propusion drives are employed for exo-atmospheric cruise.
